Not every failed brief is related to a bug. Sometimes there are other reasons for that. Have a look at the following possible cause that could be responsible for a failed brief.
The URL that has been added while brief creation is blocking the Searchmetrics bot.
When you add an URL to a brief, it has to allow the Searchmetrics bot to crawl its content. Otherwise the brief cannot be created.
Solutions
1. Do not add a URL to a brief:
If you just want to create content without tracking its success afterwards, you don't need a URL in your brief.
2. Add the URL after the brief has been successfully created:
You can add URLs at any time to already existing content pieces. Therefore you just have to click on "open brief" next to the brief to add a URL.
3. Best Solution Whitelist the Searchmetrics Bot
If it is your own URL (you have access to the code/ contact to the coder) you can whitelist the Searchmetrics Bot and allow us to crawl your page in order to prevent failed briefs in the future.
Some websites might have automated systems to block suspicious activity on their server. This could cause some issues when our crawler tries to access those pages. In this case you can whitelist our IPs on your server and then select Crawl Set Up > Advanced Settings to use the static IP.

The language of the topic does not match that of the competitors
For example, if you try to create a briefing in German, but most of your competitors deal with this topic in English, no content optimization can be performed. In this case, we cannot use comparative data for evaluation that could support content creation.
Solution
Find synonyms in your language or search for typical translations of the keyword/topic.
The Keyword/Topic is not important.
Our business logic requirements say that if a keyword/topic is not used by at least three different competitor domains, it is not widely used and therefore not as important.
Solution
Try to combine the keyword with additional words.
If none of the described problems are the case and no solution helps. Try to create the brief again via Bulk Brief Upload. To do this, click on the button in the Content Experience. There you will find a sample file which can be downloaded, filled with the briefing parameters and then uploaded again.
If you don't see any connection to the reasons mentioned above, or the problem persists, please contact your CSM or our support.
