In addition to traditional organic SERPs (search engine result pages), most searches display a number of other SERP features.
The featured snippet is one of the SERP features that can be assessed using the Searchmetrics Suite. As the name suggests, this is a highlighted search result. It displaces organic search results from the top and displays paragraphs, lists or tables in a so-called answer box. Google strives to respond quickly to questions that are easy to answer. Google chooses where the featured snippet is displayed. However, it can be helpful to summarize the content (for example in the form of lists) in order to facilitate inclusion as a featured snippet.
Finding featured snippets in the Searchmetrics Suite
You can display the percentage distribution of the SERP features for the entire relevant market and for your personal project on the Overview page. From the example below we can conclude that the integrations of the fragments presented cover only 1.48% of the project keywords (Image 1). If we then look at the entire market distribution, it becomes clear that the domain in question covers 16.67% of the presented snippets available in the market.
The bar chart on the side shows the distribution of a single selected SERP feature compared to the organic competitors and benchmarks. In the example below, the domain in question is represented by the featured snippets very strongly as opposed to its competitors.
Each SERP feature can be analyzed more thoroughly on the Details page. All project keywords are checked for the integration of the selected SERP feature, and the corresponding URLs are listed, including Traffic Index, CPC, and search volume.
In addition, the integration of individual keywords in SERPs is displayed directly in the organic rankings. Symbols on a blue background provide information on the SERP features that are currently ranking your URLs for the keywords. Gray symbols indicate which SERP feature integrations are common for the keywords and used by competitors. The Featured Snippet integration symbol is presented by a small crown. |
Research Cloud
The SERP feature area in the Research Cloud can provide information on which SERP features could be relevant in the market, so that they can be ranked alongside them.
The bottom section of the World Rankings provides an overview of SERPs by country. Once a country is selected above, country-specific data for the SERP features are displayed. The page provides information about which SERP features have gained or lost the most in the trend, and shows an overview of the distribution of SERP features in the country, as well as the historical development of the individual SERP features. Each KPI is split both for desktop and for mobile.
The Domain Overview shows a comparison of SERP features based on market specifics. In much the same way as on the Overview page in the Search Experience, the distribution of the SERPs of the entered domain versus the overall market distribution is shown here.
Das darunter liegende Säulendiagramm zeigt die SERP Feature Wettbewerber für Featured Snippets auf.
For the analyzed domain, historical data for individual SERP features are also shown in the line chart. Tip: In this context, in the event of strong fluctuations, it often makes sense to also display the Google updates, so that you can find possible connections to the changes.
A detailed analysis of each SERP feature is presented in the Domain Details. It displays a detailed list of keywords for which the selected domain ranks for the selected SERP feature. It also displays the traffic generated by the feature, as well as the search volume and the CPC.
