The dashboard creation process involves:
-
Accessing the Dashboard creation menu
- Naming the Dashboard
-
Adding a Data Source
-
Adding and customizing visualizations
-
Saving the Dashboard
Access the Dashboard Creation Menu
You can create a dashboard by selecting the “Create a new Dashboard” button on the initial screen.
Naming the Dashboard
Add a title and description for your dashboard and select the API key that you want to use to get data from Searchmetrics internal data sources.
You will then be prompted to add your first visualization by clicking on +Visualization.
Adding a Data Source
If your data source is not in the Select a Data Source section, select the +External Data Source button in the top right-hand corner. A new pop-up will appear displaying the available data sources.
Once your data source has been added, you will be taken to the Visualizations Editor, where you can begin creating and editing visualizations.
Changing your Visualization
There are several options to customize the way your information is visualized; you can access the options by selecting the field next to the search bar.
Add labels and values to your visualization and preview them in the right-hand pane. If necessary, you can change your visualization's settings or add filters to it.
Once you have modified the visualization, click the “tick mark” to save. You will be taken back to the Dashboard Editor. Below is an overview of the different elements of the dashboard editor.
-
Undo, Redo - reverse your last action or redo a change that was undone.
-
+Visualization split button - add new visualization or add a text box to the dashboard.
-
Dashboard Overflow menu - choose to change the dashboard theme, switch on/off Auto Layout, export or save the dashboard.
-
Visualization overflow menu - rename, edit, copy or duplicate them.
The difference between copying and duplicating a visualization is that duplicating works only inside the same dashboard and the copy option allows you to put the visualization in the same or a different dashboard.
After copying a visualization, find the Paste option inside the overflow menu of the dashboard you want to paste the visualization in.
Save the Dashboard
Once your dashboard is ready, save it by either selecting the tick icon in the top right-hand corner or by accessing the Save As option in the overflow menu.
Select a name for your dashboard, and, when ready, click/tap OK.
