1. What are keyword queries calculated for?
The projects in the Search Experience and the Analytics Section in the Content Experience enable you to analyze individual sets of data. A data set includes basic data of the selected keyword, such as search volume, CPC or search intent, and ranking analysis data, such as visibility, market share, top 50 URLs and SERP integrations of the selected search engine.
For that data set we charge fees in form of Keyword Queries. Depending on the frequency and variety of the datasets you need for analysis, the amount of Keyword Queries you need, will also vary. If you want to setup a project and want to know how many Keyword Queries these datasets will cost you, you need to know the following information:
- Number of Search Engines
- Tracking Frequency

Number of Search Engines
You will receive the data set mentioned above for each search engine. This means that if you want to evaluate data from a desktop and a mobile search engine, for example, you will get 2 full data sets for each keyword, so you will also need two keyword queries.
Tracking Frequency
In Searchmetrics you can choose between tracking 1, 2 or 5 times per week. Again we collect one keyword query per week for each tracking. So if you want to check your rankings twice a week one keyword on a search engine costs you two keyword queries.
How often are Keyword Queries updated?
Keyword Queries are, compared to other resources of your license (Briefing Credits, Page Credits or Export Credits), not a resource that refills itself every month. If I measure the success of a project in the long run, I will block the corresponding keyword queries as long as I use the project.
A project with 500 Keyword Queries blocks them every month. When I don't need this project anymore the 500 keyword queries will be available again.
For that reason i have to know, how many Keyword Queries I use in my different projects and how many I don't have in use yet.
Calculation of Keywordqueries for a project
When you want to know how many Keyword Queries you need for your projetcs, you can use the following calculation:
NumberKeywords x NumberSearchengines x TrackingFrequency = NumberKeywordQueries
An example:
500Keywords x 2SearchEngines x 2timesperWeek = 2.000KeywordQueries
In the example, 2,000 keyword queries must be reserved for the desired project.
You can easily see the number of keyword queries used per project in the Search Experience on the project overview page in the setup area:
How many Keywords do i have left?
When you want to know, how many keywords you can still use for a project,
Wenn du wissen willst, wie viele Keywords du noch ein ein Projekt einpflegen kannst, you can proceed as follows:
1. First you define your free keyword queries. In the project overview, you can see how many keyword queries are still free in your license. If they are not available for other projects, you can use them for your planned project.
2. Now you calculate the possible number of keywords from the still available keyword queries as follows:
NumberFreeKeywordQueries / NumberSearchEngines x Trackingfrequency = NumberPossibleKeywords
An Example
23.500 KeywordQueries / 2SearchEngines x 2TimesperWeek = 5875 Keywords
In the exapmle 5.875 Keywords can be used.
