Shared keywords are keywords that are shared with a competitor. The number provides information about the respective keyword intersection for which both domains are ranking. This example shows that both domains are ranked for the same 1.23M keywords. This information can be handled as follows: either an attempt is made to more comprehensively optimize relevant keywords in order to increase competition with the competitor and to rank higher than the competitor. Or it is worth focusing on the unique keywords.
Where can I find the shared keywords?
The number of shared keywords could be analyzed in tables in the sections of Competitor Analysis and Competitors by URL in the Research Cloud.
For a deeper analysis and compilation of a list of the specific keywords, it is necessary to compare the two domains with each other. By clicking the "Compare URL" button in the upper right corner of the Research Cloud, any domain can be compared with the analyzed domain.
There is a list of all the shared keywords. In addition, you can precisely analyze which keyword positions are ranking for the respective domains.
If we look at this example, we can see that the blue domain on "adidas" ranks better than on "esprit". Completely opposite is true for the orange domain: it ranks better for "esprit" than for the "adidas". Traffic Index behaves in a similar way. With a higher position in the search results, the respective keyword also attracts more visitors to the respective domain.
